After six years of pioneering Solo Concerts in Nigeria, such as Olamide Live in Concert (OLIC 1 – 3), Davido 30 Billion Concert, 3 Thrones Concert, Burna Boy Live and others; the management in 2019 decided it was time to make corporate identity change in accordance our revised corporate strategy and rebranded to Toro Entertainment Company Limited (TEC). This corporate identity change was to reflect the global outlook of our new brand.
After the rebrand, there was a need to follow up with statement concerts, and just as we had done in the years prior, we sought to once more own December and decided on three ‘December to Remember’ concerts, namely Kizz Daniel Live, 2 Baba Live and Future Live in Lagos.
As it was in the beginning with OLIC 1, when no one knew how a solo concert at the Eko Convention Centre would pan out, especially because it was the first time and had ever been done in Lagos and indeed Nigeria; they were concerns for the Kizz Daniel concert, despite the fact that he remains one of the best singers and performers in Nigeria, his issues with his previous label and the announcement by Wizkid that his concert we would hold on the same day; became major distractions, making the organization of the concert seem like ‘mission impossible’.
The 2 Baba Live concert also had its challenges. Despite his legendary status and reputation, many implied that status does not fill up concert venues. There was a notion that he was past his glory days and would not fill up concert venues.
In the same vein, when we announced Future Live in Lagos, there were also the notion that his personality and limited fan base here in Nigeria would negatively affect the success of the concert.
In the midst of all these, the TEC family being trailblazers, remained resolute in their choice of concerts and the desire to make all three concerts successful, memorable irrespective of the challenges.
As a team we came up with a clear plan, and with hard work, belief and passion all three concerts were successfully organized and remain the talk of the town as far as December concerts are concerned. People have attested and continue to attest to the fact that the production quality of all concerts were world class; the security top notch; and the performances seamless; the entire experience is unforgettable and one for the archives. We definitely gave Lagos a December to Remember.
2019 was therefore a year of milestone achievements for us at Toro Entertainment Company Limited.
While we celebrate our successes, we cannot forget to thank those who made everything possible. From our big bold and passionate team, to our Digital and PR agencies (DTC and Media Panache) and our legal team (Quebec Attorneys), we say a big thank you. Also to Nairabox (our ticketing platform), to the management of Eko Convention Center (Eko Hotel and Suites) and all media houses that supported us, we are grateful.
